A lot of people want to travel the world, but think that you have to be rich to do so. Although travelling can be expensive, there are a lot of ways to save money and travel the world on a budget.

Travelling the world is a dream that so many of us have, but never get to fulfil. The reasons that so many people never achieve this dream are because it doesn't fit into "society's plan", they are too scared to travel, and also because most people think that they just can't afford to travel. The truth is that travelling doesn't have to be as expensive as you think. If you do your research you can travel all around the world on a budget. Some destinations cost more than others, for example travelling in Asia is a lot cheaper than travelling in Europe. But it doesn't matter where you go, there is always a way to save money to make your dream of travelling around the world a reality.

The first thing you need to do is work out your finances. If you are like most people living in western society, you will probably be in some sort of debt, and will spend your money on buying "things". It is these "things" that generally cause you to go into debt in the first place, and do you really need these things? Or do you just think that you do because everyone else around you has them? The fact is that things can't make you happy if you are not living your dreams. Instead of buying "things" you could be putting your money towards fulfilling your dreams, to travelling the world, experiencing new cultures, meeting new people and just truly living and loving life.

There is no better feeling in the world than achieving your dream. So stop spending money on things that you don't need, pay off your debts and then save save save. But how much do you need to save to travel the world? Well it all depends on where you are going, and how long for. If you want to take a typical year long around the world trip, spending time in a mixture of cheap countries and expensive countries, then a lot of people spend around $20000.

It sounds like a lot of money, but think about it. That is all you need to travel around the world for a whole year! How much do you currently spend each year living the life that you don't want to live? Some people spend more, some people a lot less. It all depends on what you spend your money on, where you stay and where you eat. But $20000 is about an average price. If you don't do your research however, that $20000 will be gone in no time! So you have to be careful, and always think about what you are spending your money on. What you need to spend your money on to travel around the world is transport, accommodation, food and activities.

Carry a backpack or bag with a few clothes and accessories such as a camera. You don't need to pack your whole wardrobe, nor do you need to buy endless amounts of souvenirs, your photos and memories are the best souvenirs you can get! Have a good look around for flights in advance, there are always plenty of airlines competing for the best price, so don't just pick the first one you find. Compare a whole bunch until you find the cheapest one.

Take public transport where ever you can, and walk whenever possible because not only is it free, you also see a lot more! The cheapest places to stay are hostels and guesthouses. Most places around the world have dorm rooms which are cheap and you get to meet a lot of other travelers and have some great experiences. In places like Asia, you can get private rooms in guest houses extremely cheap.

In Laos for example, you can find rooms for as low as $2-$3 a night! And even in more expensive places like Australia, you can find dorm rooms for around $20 a night. That is a lot better than paying over $100 for a hotel room, and it's a lot more fun! Most hostels around the world also have kitchens, so you can buy and cook your own food, saving you a lot of money. If you want to eat out, try to avoid touristy areas, and eat where the locals eat. Street stalls have some of the cheapest food you can find, and are often delicious and local. In South East Asia you can get street food for around $1 per meal. In Italy I got delicious pizza for about $2 a slice.

As far as sightseeing goes, try to visit places that have free entry, and avoid booking expensive tours when possible. Many cities, especially in Europe, have free walking tours. Of course, you can't do this everywhere, some places will cost money, and you still want to have fun and see what you want to see. So make sure to budget some of your money for activities. Travelling the world IS possible. It's not just for rich people. Anyone can do it! All you have to do is put the effort in to make it a reality. Make you dreams come true Free Articles, get out and see the world!

Camping in the great outdoors is becoming more and more popular. With people in urban areas wanting to get themselves and their families out of the city and into the fresh air, camping is what they are choosing. Is camping a sport? Well not in the sense of how we think of conventional sports, but it can incorporate a lot of outdoor activities.

Most campgrounds are near water and that gives campers a lot of opportunity to participate in water sports such as swimming, boating, fishing, kayaking, etc. When searching for a place to take your family camping, try to find campgrounds that are on or near bodies of water. Almost always there are places to rent canoes and boats and other watercraft. The fun never stops when you're camping near water.

Another activity that can be done while camping is hiking. Hiking is a great form of exercise and a great way to see nature first hand. Some people incorporate camping into their hiking, setting up camp alone hiking trails. If you are camping at a campground look for nature trails, they are very common in wooded areas. Hiking is also a great family activity. Make a picnic lunch at camp and make hiking an all day event.

Probably my favorite thing about camping is the campfire. Nothing seems to be better than sitting with family and friends around a campfire. The fire seems to mesmerize and relax you. The smell of the smoke takes you instantly back to other times when you had enjoyed a camping trip. Another fun thing about campfires is all the tasty snacks you can cook over the open fire. Roasted marshmallows seem to be the favorite. Smores are fun to make as a family and are very tasty too. Hotdogs cooked over a campfire seem to taste a little bit better then normal. Honestly I think everything seems to taste better when cooked outside.

On a more serious not about campfires, make sure you check your campgrounds fire guidelines before lighting a fire. You may have to provide your own wood. There also may be certain rules about gathering wood from around your site.

Some of my best sleep has been while I was camping. The fresh air and the sounds of nature seem to sooth you to a deep sense of relaxation. If you can I recommend a night spent under the stars. If you don't want to do that or can not, a leak-proof tent will do just fine. There are many varieties of tents available to you. Choose one with ease of set up and one that has enough room for occupants and their gear. Again check the park's guidelines, some sites only allow tents and some only allow camper trailers.
The most important thing to remember when going camping is, Have Fun!

The advantages of camping holidays begin with adventure. A family can go wherever they want and camp there for as long as they have. From a camping base, a family can go for walks out into the wild and see nature in its true habitat. They can also make their way over to huge lakes to fish or swim, and if they find an adventure park they can spend the day zip lining around the trees as fast as they can go, which is fun for everyone.

This is also where the disadvantages begin, however, because some people like the routine they have and don't want it disturbed by living in a tent for a week or two. Sometimes there are no shower facilities and people will need to use a solar shower, which isn't a problem for most, but some people could feel self-conscious about their body when using one. Toilets are another big disadvantage if a campsite doesn't have the facilities provided, as people will need to go and dig themselves a hole to use, or use a communal one, which many consider being worse.

For others the freedom of being in the outdoors outweighs all disadvantages relating to homely comforts such as showering and using the toilet. They also enjoy not being able to use their mobile phones, as these are an invasion which can ruin a holiday if someone is using theirs constantly. Whilst camping, people will also be away from the thick smog of the city, something many consider to be unhealthy. The great outdoors has nothing but fresh air, and most people consider this a huge advantage of camping holidays.
To break it down to a list of the core advantages and disadvantages, this is what most people think of camping.

Advantages

1) Adventure
2) Seeing Wildlife
3) Clean Air
4) No Mobile Phones
5) No Internet
6) No Traffic
7) No Interruptions

Disadvantages

1) No Toilet
2) No Shower
3) No Food Provided For You
4) Living In A Tent
5) Bugs
6) Little Or No Electricity
7) Nothing Much To Do If You're Not Adventurous

In conclusion, the advantages and disadvantages of camping seem to be entirely based on opinion. What people need to realise is that camping can be great fun as long as everyone is involved in enjoying themselves, because once someone isn't having fun, the trip is ruined. If worst comes to worst, building a huge camp fire and staying up late into the night is something everyone enjoys doing.

Emma Darling and her family have been on many camping holidays with both of her daughters, which is why she knows so much about them. For her the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, but she really wanted to give people a breakdown in this article to help them decide. She has written lists like this before for Dorothy and Theodore, and found this type of article best for getting the points across to the reader on these subjects.

Travel packing can be a complicated process even for the simplest person. The decisions that have to be done are numerous: what clothes to take with you or how many bags to carry on. Packing depends whether you'll drive your vehicle to the airport and whether you'll reserve a spot at the parking airport.

You should bring small luggage if you are taking a short trip. Take only necessary things like clothes, shoes and cosmetics. Choose clothes that can be combined easily by colour and shades. Always choose casual and comfortable outfits in which you will travel smoothly. Bring smaller bottles for your cosmetics in order not to take over so much space. Do you know what you shouldn't take on broad? There are the few things that are not allowed in your hand luggage like weapons, kitchen tools and instruments, goods which are explosive, flammable or magnetic. When it comes to shoes, it's best to bring only 3 types: boots, sandals and sneakers. However, this will depend of the person's character.

If you have to bring extra luggage, there are more things you need to keep in mind. The ideal situation is if you drive your own cat to the airport. You can carry as much luggage as you want. You have to book a space at parking airport in advance. They will take the luggage to the airport instead of you. While you are travelling, they will keep your car safe in their car park.

Check yourself at least two hours before your departure. Baggage handlers need more time to transport the luggage to the latest location - the plane. It is considered luggage most often lose those passengers who came later for their flight. If you still need to bring more things, take only two pieces of luggage. It can be one travel bag on wheels and one backpack that you can carry on yourself.

People who travel often know how to loosen up the situation when a luggage is lost. They take a photo of the bag and make it easier for the airport staff to find it and bring it back to you. Create a list of all the things in the bag to serve as a proof that the bag is yours. You can take insurance if you want to bring your baggage security to a higher level.

Nowadays, you can find different travel packing tips and guides online. Just by frequent travel, you will build your own packing system that will fit your needs.

If you finished packing your stuff, get yourself to the airport and leave your vehicle at the Sydney parking airport. It's time to enjoy your trip.

As you might expect from a city that's dubbed “capital of Europe", Brussels enjoys strong transport links – not only within Belgium and Europe but throughout the globe. Brussels has strong rail links with other European countries (including Eurostar which even links to London ) and the city has an efficient internal public transport system that uses underground, trams and buses.

Getting To Brussels By Air

Brussels most prolific airport is “ Brussels International Airport " (located in Zaventem) and is 13km away from Brussels city centre. The majority of airlines fly to this destination and as you would expect it has the features & facilities you would expect from a major international airport. From Brussels International, you can reach your ultimate destination by train, taxi or bus.

Alternatively, Brussels second airport is Brussels Charleroi, which is significantly further away from the city centre. The airport is linked to Brussels midi train station.

Getting To Brussels By Bus

Brussels is well connected to various European destinations including the United Kingdom by Bus.

Most coaches terminate at Bruxelles Nord, after which the traveller can take a train or taxi onto their final destination.

Getting To Brussels By Train

The Eurostar operates a full service to Bruxelles Midi, and the Thalys Express also runs between Brussels and destinations including Paris, Amsterdam and Cologne .

Getting Around Brussels – Trams, Trains, Buses & Taxis

It's fairly easy and inexpensive to move about within Brussels . A single ticket can be purchased for under 2 euros and can be used anywhere on the STIB network (metros, trams and buses). The network is quite comprehensive so it's fairly easy to hop from one location of Brussels to another. Once you purchase a ticket, you'll need to stamp it using one of the machines located at the station, tram or bus. Don't forget to stamp your ticket – if you're caught without a valid ticket there are hefty fines of up to 55 Euros imposed. There are various options for discounted tickets depending on your length of stay – for around 30 Euros you can grab a “Brussels Card" which allows unlimited public transport travel for three days as well as free admission to various landmarks.

Public transport in Brussels is made up of a comprehensive yet easy to navigate train system that's well supported by a further network of trams and buses.

The Tram network is a good way of navigating around the city centre. Trams are quite frequent and not only meander through Brussels town centre but also reach much of the deeper suburban areas. Pick up a free map/timetable from the information point in Gare du Midi, Porte de Namur and Rogier.

The STIB also operates a bus network throughout the city and this operates at night-time (with less regularity).

Getting Around Brussels On Foot

For the active tourist, navigating through the city on foot is a distinct possibility. Many of the interesting landmarks are located fairly close together which makes walking a pleasurable way of seeing the town, particularly in the warmer months. Be sure to grab a map before setting out.

Making the decision to book a flight to Europe is one that most people don't take lightly. After all, it's a big financial commitment. Before you bite the bullet and part with your hard earned cash, take a look at five things I think you should know before you book your flight to Europe.

1. Flexibility may reduce the price
If you're ready to book your flights you're going to be fairly sure of the dates you want to travel but it's always a good idea to compare the price of the same flight a few days either side of your preferred travel date.

Mid-week flights can sometimes be cheaper than those on weekends, and airline prices vary, too, so if you can be a little flexible you might end up saving some money.

Altering your preferred departure date from Australia might also mean you travel in a different 'season'. A 'shoulder season' fare might be a couple of hundred dollars less than a 'peak season' fare so if you can be flexible it might be worth your while.

2. Payment deadlines
Airlines have strict payment deadlines. Generally speaking, if you book your flight online, either on the airline's own website or via a booking site such as Expedia, you'll have to make your payment straight away using a credit card.

Travel agents can usually hold your flights for either 3 or 7 days (depending on the airline you are flying with) before the full payment is due.

3. Passenger names
You'll need to know the correct names of all those in your travelling party exactly as they are shown on each individual's passport. If you've always known your friend as Charlie but his passport say Charles, then Charles it has to be on his airline ticket.

Name changes are usually not allowed once an airline ticket has been issued, so get it right from the start or you may be up for a ticket re-issue fee. When you get to the airport, if the passenger's passport and airline ticket don't match, they can be refused carriage.

4. Know your itinerary
Know the city that you would like to fly in and out of, as well as your exact dates of travel.
Airlines do charge for amendments to itineraries, including travel dates, so before you hand over your payment, make sure you're happy with your flight route and dates, and know the penalties should you need to alter your travel plans.

5. Cancellation fees
Should the unexpected happen and you need to cancel your flight after you've paid for your ticket, you can expect to pay a cancellation fee.

Fees can differ depending on the airline and the type of fare you have purchased, so check the cancellation conditions and make sure you have adequate travel insurance to cover you if the unexpected does occur.

Armed with all the above information, you should be able to book your flight to Europe with confidence.

Bon voyage!

The world just keeps getting smaller and smaller and global commerce is becoming more and more common. China, India and other emerging economies are now targeted by the U.S. and other western corporations in hopes of expanding their market. Business travelers are now frequently traveling to Africa, South America and the Middle East.

Vacationers and leisure travelers are always looking for new and exotic travel destinations. Let's face it, we are more mobile now than ever in human history. Thankfully, in most cases, international travel is completed without incident. However, in some cases an international leisure or business trip can become a nightmare if you do not have the right travel insurance plan.

People ask me all the time, "Is travel insurance a waste of money?" The answer is a resounding NO. For the money spent, the coverage is absolutely worthwhile. Imagine you are on your dream vacation in South America and you become ill after eating out at a local seafood restaurant. In America you would probably first call your doctor and then maybe go to the hospital if the condition worsened. A doctors visit and a trip to the ER is most definitely covered by your domestic insurer but what about in South America, Africa, Europe or other countries?

In most cases, you are not covered at all or the amount of reimbursement is greatly reduced. On another note, most doctors and hospitals abroad will not even entertain the idea of being reimbursed by your domestic insurance and will most certainly require payment in full.

A serious condition could leave you with tens of thousands of dollars in medical bills that have to be paid. What about finding quality medical care in say, China? Unfortunately, your network of doctors and hospitals under your PPO or HMO does not extend to China.

In some cases, international travel insurance plans offer an international network of pre-certified doctors, clinics and hospitals that will accept direct payment form your international insurer. This way, you don't even have to pay out of pocket and wait to get reimbursed later.

To me, the thought of being treated by a foreign doctor in a foreign land is frightening. What school did this doctor attend? Do they even speak your language? Is he or she trained in western medicine? If you have a travel plan that comes with an international network of doctors hospitals and clinics, you know that you are receiving quality care. Otherwise, you are relying on the hotel concierge, your cab driver or a person walking down the street to offer you advice on a "good doctor."

What about if you are in a serious accident and need to be flown to another facility for life-saving surgery? This is a terrible thought but it happens every day while folks are on vacation or traveling on business across the globe. Emergency medical evacuation services can cost from $30,00 to $50,000 or more for a single trip. And guess what?

It's not covered by your domestic insurance plan. However, most quality travel insurance plans cover this event but you have to be careful in selecting a plan that does not put major restrictions on this benefit.

Major medical insurance is just one of the benefits of purchasing an international travel insurance plan. Most comprehensive plans also cover trip cancellation, trip interruption, accident and lost luggage insurance just to name a few. Look for future articles where I will explain in detail the other valuable benefits contained in a quality travel insurance plan.
