There is no need to feel stressed about your upcoming family trip. There are so many fun, safe places to take the kids and grandparents these days. If anything, everyone might have some different ideas of where they want to go. Kids have different interests depending on their age and personality. Get the family together to create a list of places and begin narrowing down the results. Here are a few family vacation ideas and recommendations to help you get started.

US Vacation Destinations

Washington DC
Many of the attractions, including the museums, are absolutely free to visit. Visiting the Museum of Natural History can be a very fun AND educational experience for children since there are dinosaurs! Since the hotels, unfortunately, do have a reputation for being a bit pricey, you can lodge in one of the nearby cities like Annapolis or Arlington.

Myrtle Beach, SC
This is one of the least expensive beaches to visit on the Atlantic Coast. It can get crowded, so try visiting off-season if possible. To save money, book a room without an ocean view. You will be seeing it every day anyway. Spend the evenings having family fun at a mini golf course or bowling alley.

Portland, Oregon

Head to the Pacific Northwest for some spectacular (and affordable) fun. There are plenty of hotels in Portland that run less than $100 a night. Visit the Oregon Zoo, or go exploring a submarine. Get everyone's lunch from a Food Truck and pick up some snacks at the Farmer's Market.

International Family Vacation Ideas

Baja California Sur, Mexico
If you want to try the last-minute thing, this is a good choice. Airlines frequently offer last-minute discounted flights (to Cabo San Lucas), and there is no shortage of all-inclusive family resorts in the area. It's easy to find airfare + hotel packages for 5 nights.

Dublin, Ireland
Here is a large city with infinite charm. Take a budget airliner like Aer Lingus Wow Air, or Norwegian Air. You can cut out costs on ground transportation with a Dublin Pass. For some family fun, head to the Dublin Zoo and Dublin Falconry.

Bali, Indonesia
As long as you can fly out of New York or Los Angeles, Bali can be an affordable vacation for the entire family. There are many kid-friendly activities, like the Elephant Safari and Bali Bird parks. For kids who enjoy waterslides, you can visit Waterbom Bali park and Splash Water Park. And, of course, there are plenty of exotic beaches to enjoy.

These are a few examples of fun places to visit for kids and adults of all ages. Once again, get everyone together to create a list of family vacation ideas, do a bit of research, and compare prices. Hopefully, everybody will be able to agree on where to go and what to do.

Here's a way to save money on your family trip: use online coupons. Check out the current deals on everything from airfare to amusement park tickets. It's easy to do research on family vacation ideas and plan itineraries online.
